As your needs change please keep in touch with us to help you review your planning
or concerns to help you determine if your coverage is still appropriate.
It is also important to keep your policy information "up to date" with the company.
- Have you moved? Even if your premiums are auto drafted be sure to update your address with the carrier you have coverage with.
- Have you changed banks? Be sure to update your banking information with the company you have your policy with to avoid the risk of lapsing your policy.
- Do you need to update your beneficiary? Many times our clients have married, some even divorced or have children who are now "adults" and should update their beneficiaries. If one of your beneficiaries changes their address it is good to update your policy information. You can contact the carrier directly or we can help you complete the required forms.
- Have you set up online access? If you have a policy on a direct billing mode it is a good idea to visit a carrier's website and set up online access and if you don't remember paying a premium check to be sure you policy still in force. Direct bill premium notices are mailed directly from carriers to the policy owner's address of record. We do not get copies of premium notices and normally only find out a premium was not paid when the policy lapses. We encourage our clients to set up electronic billing and payments where possible to avoid unintentional lapses. You may also be able set up a third party notification for missed premiums.
- Is your policy still right for you? Are the premiums going to remain level until your planned retirement? Is the face amount enough or too much? Often times changes are needed and some are easier than others. We can help address many of these concerns.
- Do you have coverage on your spouse? Many times this is overlooked but the loss of a spouse can be emotionally and financially challenging. Especially with the loss of a spouse's income or needing to take off to take care of the children.
